A school assignment to create cartoon animals.

I wanted to do something Beatles inspired, and therefore I picked the walrus and octopus to work on. I reverted to a more traditional approach for the thumbnailing process, choosing to do it with pen on paper rather than digitally. For the final illustration, I tried to mimic the style of Serge Birault (a.k.a Papaninja); especially his technique of rendering slimy smooth surfaces.

Very impressive. It could well be a production from a well-known studio

Nice silky fur texture rendering on the walrus as well as slime on the octopus. Not sure if orange is the theme colour here but I find it cool that the overall image has a hint of the octopus' orange. I think it's appropriate since orange seems to be the main subjects' colour.

Yes, I was trying to aim for a warm tone for this illustration, therefore I chose orange.

That's adorable!

Especially the octopus design (eyes at the top, like it's a wire puppet and those are holding it up), it's simple but works!
