To commemorate the opening of my new website (www.jason-w.com) and to participate in a friend's art challenge, I created the above painting. The assignment was about re-imagining a TV show from your childhood, but to set it in a different time period. I chose to illustrate the titanic battle between Pokemon and Digimon in the medieval era. I specifically chose Charizard and MetalGreymon as they are both starting monsters in their respective series and both of them have similar qualities about them.
I drew inspiration from Thomas Scholes and his amazing environment concept style for this piece, and tried to incorporate some of his brushes into my workflow. I'm quite happy with the final results, given them I'm hard pressed for time this week.
